Renovation of the Courtyard of No. 38 BaoChao Hutong

The courtyard of No. 38 Baochao Hutong is located in the old town on the north side of East Drum Tower Street. The original courtyard house is a group of houses with two courtyards system. The courtyard is a century-old traditional building remnant, and the traditional elements of Beijing residential houses are complete.

This renovation is a combination of repairs and changes in current use requirements while preserving all traditional elements and cultural characteristics. The project has been transformed from 7 traditional houses to 16 rooms (13 with separate bathrooms) and 12 small courtyards. It has the traditional cultural taste, comfort and low energy consumption required by modern boutique hotels.

Through the implantation of the new Four Seasons Hall, the original two courtyards were split into multiple groups of courtyards of different sizes, so that the traditional living model that room connected with the courtyard could be continued. Protection and development, modernity and tradition are issues that cannot be avoided in this era.
